about Consumerism is a disease that effects every person in Western society. American Christians [and our churches] are not immune. We move from one distraction to the next, bubbling ourselves from meeting the needs of a world so desperate for love. This is not the lifestyle God demands of Christians. Our cumulative consumptive choices have growing consequences.

As American Christians increasingly act like consumers of church-- the purpose of local churches has changed. Churches which should be delivery stations of love & grace have become bubbles of Christians consuming church. This will not suffice.

We must recapture our purpose.

As Christians we are all a part of the problem, and can be a part of the solution. Join us as we champion Christians remembering that we are not consumers of The Church---we are It's employees.

It's time we remember that. It's time we live that. about the message host an event we want to collaborate with your community. event promo package spencer bio i don’t need you to adore me

    There is no fee.

We do not have a mandatory charge to do this. We do ask you to consider that this work is what Spencer does with his life...he has no job and has devoted himself fully to sharing God’s great work. He lives very modestly to make this possible. Please consider that God has provided for Spencer in amazing ways--allowing for him to reach your community and share with it.

Spencer welcomes your community’s donation to help him continue his work, but does not require it. This is not about money, but he does need to be able to survive and pay his modest bills. If you value your time together and his ability to serve others in the future, consider some sort of payment to further his work. We do this to further The Kingdom of God. We want to come to your community, and money should not be a hinderance. We hope in serving your community you would find value in what we have brought to you. If so, please consider helping us continue the work God has given to us. We make every effort to keep all costs down.

No massive campus--
no satellite feeds.

all i have is the word of god..
but step back,,,cuz i’ll use it. Jimmy Spencer is the Founder of The Shema Movement-- A Viral Jesus Network. Spencer has spoken in front of tens of thousands of people on 4 continents [europe. asia. north america. south america]. His straightforward, and highly interactive speaking style inspires people to concrete change. His warmth, passion and candid style has made him a beloved speaker to a those who have witnessed him. we are a viral network of local relationships--a movement of people doing good for the kingdom of god by reaching into neighborhoods across the globe and sharing the transforming love of Jesus. the movement is a coalition of people taking up the cause of revitalizing the church thru these good works and a network of neighborhood communities and churches committed to catalyzing them. the message lets all be honest lets all be honest God can be right there in front of us...cheering us on, convicting us, inspiring us....but if we are not willing to be honest with ourselves and Him...we will miss out on this meeting. This is a great time for spencer to let his audience get to know him and a bit of his story. It’s also when Spencer can get a feel for his audience..knowing what will work and what will not. Let the dance begin! the cycle the cycle of consumer christianity Spencer lays out The basic Cycle of Consumer Christianity and how it works. Its interactive and thought provoking. Many people have said after the message ...”I have felt that way for years but didn’t have the vocabulary to express it- Thank You!”
Spencer uses a variety of visuals for this but prefers a massive whiteboard to allow the most spontaneity. Is this Cycle something just made up? If you want to know where a person {or organizations} heart is -- look at where it spends its money. Spencer uses statistics that follow the money of Christians and draws some intriguing conclusions. breaking the cycle... mitvot and the shema Let find what God has to say about Consumerism...it in the Bible. First we will examine Ephesians 2:8-10 and look at the concept of Mitvot and how it relates to the purpose of being created. The second tool we look at is the Shema in Dueteronomy and how it can be used moment by moment to change ourselves and thus society around us. These two disciplines if kept in the front of our minds can re-orient our mindsets and catalyze us as agents of change for The Kingdom of God. breaking the cycle dancing with god {the story of noah} dancing with god We take a brief pause to look at the life of Noah in Genesis, and the concept of dancing with God. When does God fulfill HIs promises and what part does He expect from these agents of change in The Kingdom. Do we have a role to play in this remptive process God is working in the world? If so what is it? the goldfish learning from a goldfish We wrap up with a challenge to return to the environment we were created for. Spncer uses his goldfish friend, Methuselah, to demonstrate the importance of living in our environment. He ends with a call of hope that we as Christians are called to be more than simply church goers and calls the audience to be The Church in all its Viral beauty. Tangibly he asks each person to be honest with themselves, search their heart for what God wants THEM to do ---and to go do it. Its a powerful and thought provoking ending. so there will be no surprises.. heres’s an overview of the message. it is intended to provided you with a sample of our style and the content of the message... it’s not complete...but it hits all the major points... enjoy! Spencer will come and speak and do Q and A with your community.
